Mrs. Nevin Jameh, Minister of Trade and Industry, stressed the government’s keenness to prepare a package of urgent measures aimed at stimulating economic activity and avoiding the negative effects of the spread of the Corona virus on the performance of the economy in all its sectors, especially in the production and export sector.

She said that these incentive measures aim to maintain productivity rates to meet the increasing demand for national industry products, whether for the domestic or external market, as well as support the export sector to increase rates of exports to various sectors, especially for European countries ’markets, which are currently experiencing difficult exceptional conditions due to the closure of many factories, which is This represents a great opportunity to increase the export rates of Egyptian products.

The minister’s statements came during a series of intensive meetings held with representatives of the export sector in Egypt that included heads of export councils and executive directors of councils, in the framework of the ministry’s efforts to discuss the repercussions of the crisis that the world economy is currently experiencing due to the spread of the new Corona virus, and its impact on the Egyptian exports movement to international markets. In various sectors during the current stage.

Jameh said that the ministry started to implement an urgent action plan to reduce the negative effects of this global crisis on the industry and trade sectors, through communication with all factories to ensure the availability of production requirements, especially imported ones, to ensure continued operations and non-stop production movement, as well as follow-up to the regularity of supply chains Among all industry circles, as well as mandating all the Ministry’s agencies to provide the necessary support and support to the business community, noting in this context that the Trade Representation Authority and its offices abroad are mandated to achieve more communication between Egyptian producers and exporters and their counterparts Especially abroad in light of the difficulty of travel and movement due to halt flights in many countries of the world in order to maintain the presence of the Egyptian foreign markets.

The heads of the export councils called for setting an exceptional program to stimulate exports during the next 3 months and reopening the land shipping lines, especially with African countries.

They also called on the Ministry of Finance to quickly reimburse the dues of the exporting companies with the Export Development Fund with a proposal to pay from the fund’s budget for the current year 2019/2020 and postpone the payment of tax premiums to companies for a specific period without interest. Especially for the Arab countries markets.

On the other hand, Mrs. Nevin Jameh stressed, during her meeting with the executive directors of export councils, the importance of activating the role of councils in serving the exporting community and increasing Egyptian exports to global markets, especially since the export file represents one of the most important priorities of the state during the current stage, noting in this context that it is currently being completed Of reconfiguring the export councils, as they will be announced within the next few days.

She said that the ministry aims to reformulate the role of councils to play a more effective and influential role in the export system, and give them greater powers to advance the work system and contribute to achieving the ministry’s vision to double the export rates during the next stage
